About Us

Made with the Finest Quality Local, Seasonal and EU produce.

Hot Jam Lady was established by Angela-Jeanne Trickett on 1st of September 2009. Born in Poole, Dorset. My father was a trawler fisherman and my mum an outstanding gardener .

Having a large family to feed, my parents grew almost all of our food in the back garden. We had every vegetable you could imagine, herbs, potatoes, cucumbers, beetroot, tomatoes, carrots, strawberries, raspberries, loganberries, gooseberries, grapes, cherries, apples, plums and pears the list was indeed endless; I don’t think there was anything they could not grow, catch or cook.

Nothing was ever wasted it was either preserved into jam or compote to enjoy a little bit of the summer on a cold winters day, or pickled and kept to spice up the Sunday lunch left over cold cuts. I missed the food and healthy life-style of my childhood, so In October 2009 I decided to build a business around what I was taught about food and the environment from my Mum and sadly belated Dad. The Hot Jam Lady was born, supplying to the hotel and catering industry. I initially decided to manufacture preserves and chutneys and with the addition 2 years later, my delicious yogurts with fresh fruit compotes.

Being a keen environmentalist. The main focus is to reduce food miles, support local independent dairy farmers and reduce our carbon foot print. Most food businesses produce a lot of unnecessary waste and this I wanted to be different for my business. An example of this is; for my hotel clients we offer a recycle and reuse system for all the glass jars and I refund them a deposit to encourage them to be green. I have to wash and sterilise all the jars before I use them, so it makes no difference for me to collect the old empty clean jars when I deliver the new ones.

I recycle everything I possibly can and only chose suppliers who have recyclable or biodegradable packaging. We even reuse all the empty milk pergal boxes saving unnecessary recycling.
